Want to get in to the habit of writing one of these every week as a means of evaluating my own plans and endeavours, also it seems like a good way of somehow curating my blog and providing some kind of narrative through it.
Well then…. (deep breath)
Just restarted the course after a year off, it was a year that went very slowly for me and it feels like a lifetime ago since I was studying for my M.A last.
Spent the first week or so since enrolment attending some group meetings and re-familiarising myself with the Camberwell environment.
I have been using the Digital Arts studio as a place to concentrate on learning Processing and maybe some basic Java as this is essential for the work I want to create through this course.
At home I have been working on my essay
‘Looking at Screens’
I have so far written the introduction, and gathered a lot of useful notes and references that will form the backbone of my discussion.
Still a bit uncertain how to navigate my way through the topic, yet when I do write I feel as though my discussion is leading somewhere even though I am not entirely sure at this stage what the final conclusion is going to be and how I am going to resolve the piece.
This week I also wrote a
300 word abstract and a bibliography, this was in preparation for my tutorial with Katherine Elwes which was very productive.
Wrote an individual blog entry about that
On Tuesday I have a tutorial with Dr Yuko Kikuchi, so I will spend what little free time I have between now and then preparing for that and trying to identify areas where I am confused and need input.
The rest of next week I will continue to spend some time at Camberwell learning processing, I am working through the book Processing: Creative Coding and Computational Art By Ira Greenberg, which is a brilliant book and a fantastic course in itself.
Besides this and more work on my essay, I would also like to at least edit, if not re-write my study proposal since my focus has changed a-lot since I wrote my original study proposal almost 2 years ago.
My goals for the week then are
